I enter my shower with my hair in a braid. With my back to the camera, I undo the braid, shaking out my long hair. Then I begin to wash it. First I shampoo, working the shampoo into a lather on my scalp, then rinsing it out. Afterward, I condition, using my fingers to work the creamy conditioner through my long dark locks. As I shampoo and condition the only sound is the sound of the water coming from the shower head and dripping out of my hair. I twist my hair up and let it down, moving it this way and that with my fingers as a mosaic of loose hair strands grows across my back. Finally, with my hair pulled forward over my face, I turn toward the camera and apply my leave-in conditioner, at last pushing my hair back to reveal my smiling face.
